Rogelio Antonio Jr. is a Filipino chess grandmaster, who achieved his grandmaster title in 1993. He was born on February 19, 1962, in the Philippines. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
Antonio won numerous chess tournaments, including the Philippine Chess Championship in 1991 and 2010, the Vietnam Open Chess Championship in 2005, and the Mt. Kinabalu International Chess Championship in Malaysia in 1996. He represented the Philippines many times in the Chess Olympiad, with his first appearance being in 1986.
Antonio is also an International Correspondence Chess Grandmasters (ICCGM) champion. In the 18th ICCGM, he ranked first with a score of 11 points from 14 games and was Filipino's first correspondence chess champion.
Antonio is significant for his online presence, where he promotes playing chess through live streaming and organizes online tournaments. He also works as a chess coach with his most successful student, Wesley So, becoming one of the top chess players in the world.
