Ardiansyah is an Indonesian chess grandmaster, who was born on December 5, 1951. He became an International Master in 1977 and achieved the title of Honorary Grandmaster in 1986. Ardiansyah is the first Indonesian chess player to achieve these titles.


He has played for Indonesia in several Asian Team Chess Championships and Chess Olympiads. In 1978, at the 3rd Asian Team Chess Championship in Dubai, he contributed to the Indonesian team's bronze medal victory. He also won three silver medals in the individual Asian Chess Championship.


Before becoming a chess grandmaster, Ardianshyah earned the title of Indonesian National Master when he won the national chess championship in 1969. He repeated this success in 1973, 1974, and 1975. He held the title of Chief Arbiter of the Indonesian Chess Association from 1998-2022 and worked as a chess columnist for various Indonesian newspapers in the late 1980s and early 1990s.


In 2006, Ardiansyah retired from chess and in the same year, he was inaugurated into the 'Hall of Achievement' by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia.
