S. Arun Prasad is an Indian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster. Born on April 21, 1988 in Salem, Tamil Nadu in India, Prasad began playing chess at a young age. His first major accomplishment occurred in 2004, where he won the World Under-16 Chess Championship.


In the same year, he achieved the title of International Master. Arun subsequently earned the Grandmaster title in 2008. Throughout his career, Arun has represented India in several international competitions. Aside from his World Championship win, Arun’s accomplishments include winning the 2008 Parsvnath Open in India and the 2009 Canadian Open Chess Championship.


Arun stopped playing competitive chess in 2014, and since then has focused on becoming a successful coach. His students include some of the top young talent emerging from India.
