Aryan Chopra is an Indian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster, the highest rank in chess. He was born on 12 July 2002, and is originally from New Delhi. Chopra became a Grandmaster in 2016 at the age of 14, making him one of the youngest players in the world to achieve the title.


Before achieving Grandmaster status, Chopra showed promise early, winning the Under-11 National Schools Chess Championship in 2013. Following this, he consecutively won bronze medals at the World Youth Chess Championships in the Under-12 category in both 2013 and 2014.


Chopra was also the winner of the National Under-13 Chess Championship in 2015 and represented India in the 2015 World Youth Chess Championship in Greece.


In the same year, he achieved the title of International Master, demonstrating significant progress in his career.


Chopra achieved his Grandmaster title in 2016 at the Sitges Open in Spain with a series of victories culminating in a win over Ukrainian grandmaster Vitaly Sivuk. Following this, he competed in various international tournaments such as the World Junior Chess Championship in Russia and the Gibraltar Chess Festival.


Apart from playing, Chopra has also contributed to chess writing. He has written a book called, "My Junior Years in 20 Games".
