Yusup Atabayev is a professional chess player from Turkmenistan. Born on 24 December 1992, Atabayev won the Turkmenistan Chess Championship in 2012 and 2017. He was awarded his International Master (IM) title in 2012 and his Grandmaster (GM) title in 2018 by FIDE, the international chess federation.
Atabayev made his debut at the Chess World Cup in 2015, where he was knocked out in the first round by Levon Aronian, a chess grandmaster from Armenia. He had success in other tournaments, such as winning the Albena Open in Bulgaria, the Georgi Tringov Memorial tournament, and the Chigorin Memorial tournament, all in 2018. He also represented Turkmenistan in the Chess Olympiad.
