Sergei Azarov is a professional Belarusian chess player. He was born on 19th March, 1983 in the city of Novopolotsk. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by The International Chess Federation (FIDE) in 2003. He competes in both mid-length and longer matches, and has demonstrated the ability to defeat grandmaster opponents.
Azarov has won several major international tournaments. In 2010, he won the World Open in Philadelphia with a score of 7½/9 points. He repeated this achievement the same year when he tied for 1st-3rd places at the Nakhchivan Open. The following year, Azarov won the Masters Final of the 32nd San Sebastian International Chess Tournament, making him the outright champion.
He has had a substantial impact in the world of chess and has held his title as grandmaster for almost two decades, showing his talent as well as his longevity in the world of chess.
