Tamás Bánusz is a Hungarian Grandmaster (GM) in chess, born on August 26, 1989. He earned the title of International Master (IM) in 2008 and the grandmaster title in 2015.
He first achieved significant success in 2008 at the World Under-18 Chess Championship, winning a bronze medal. In 2009, he represented Hungary in the Mitropa Cup and became a bearer of the Grandmaster title at the age of 26, in 2015. His performance at the Reykjavik Open Championship qualified him for this prestigious title of grandmaster.
Bánusz achieved his first Hungarian Chess Championship in 2018. In the same year, he tied for third place at the Aeroflot Open in Russia. In 2020, he won the international tournament 'The Year of Hegedus Gyula' in Hungary.
Bánusz also played in team competitions, including the 2013 Szirák tournament in Hungary (team category), the European Team Chess Championship held in Greece, and the NATO Chess Championships in Quebec, Canada.
