Evandro Amorim Barbosa is a Brazilian chess player who was awarded the title of International Master (IM) by FIDE in 2009, and Grandmaster (GM) in 2018. He was born on 21 February 1982. Though he played chess from a young age, it wasn't until he was 16 years old that Barbosa competed in his first chess tournament.

As a young player, Barbosa showed potential. In 2003, he won the Pan American U-20 Championship in Brazil. In 2009, Barbosa won the Brazilian Chess Championship. He acquired many other honours, including 2nd place at the I Campeonato Brasileiro de Xadrez in 2010, and became Brazil's Champion of the International Chess Festival in 2011.

In 2014, Barbosa began one of the most exciting periods of his career. He won the Zonal 2.4 championship in Montevideo, Uruguay, which qualified him to participate in the 2015 Chess World Cup. He also won the Floripa Open in 2015. In 2016, Barbosa joined a club team in the U.S, playing several seasons for the Minnesota Blizzard in the PRO Chess League.
