Oliver Barbosa is a Filipino chess grandmaster. He was recognised as International Master in 2006, and awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2011. In 2011, he won the 10th Parsvnath International Open Chess Tournament, held in New Delhi, India. Additionally, he placed second in the Malaysian Open Chess Championship the same year. In 2012, Barbarosa notably won a match against the former World Chess Champion, Anatoly Karpov, at the Chess Olympiad in Istanbul. He also achieved a silver medal in the 2014 Chess Olympiad, held in Norway. Barbosa has competed in various international chess tournaments and Grandmaster norms over the years, earning a total of five GM norms. He is recognised as one of the top-ranked Chess players from the Philippines.
