Rogelio Barcenilla is a Spanish Filipino chess Grandmaster known for his accomplishments primarily in the Philippines and the United States. He was born in the Philippines on April 10, 1968. Barcenilla was known as a chess prodigy during his youth, becoming a FIDE Master at just 13 years old.
Barcenilla has played for the Arizona Scorpion chess team of the United States Chess League since 2008, becoming the team's 1st board player. In 2017, he moved back to the Philippines, but continues to represent the United States in international team competitions. He was part of the 2020 Philippine team that competed in the Online Chess Olympiad. He won the Janelle Mae Frayna GM Invitational in 2021. His playstyle is known for its aggressiveness, involving attacks right from the opening.
