Harsha Bharathakoti is an Indian Chess Grandmaster (GM) who hails from Hyderabad, Telangana in India. His competitive prowess in chess has placed him among the notable chess players in Indian history. He achieved the prestigious title of Grandmaster, the highest title a chess player can achieve, while playing at the Sitges Open in Spain in 2018. Throughout his career, Harsha has won numerous international competitions.
Born on July 15, 2000, Harsha started playing chess from a very young age. His interest in promoting and cultivating the game has not waned along with his rise to prominence. From 2016 onwards, Harsha undertook significant steps forward in his chess career. He claimed the National Under 17 Chess Championship, and the year after saw him bag the Asian Junior Chess Championship.
