Felix Blohberger is an Austrian chess player who was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 2015 and that of Grandmaster (GM) in 2021 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). He was born on May 20, 1998 in Austria. Over the years, Blohberger has distinguished himself in various key chess tournaments.
Blohberger won the U8 Austrian Youth Chess Championship in 2006. In 2007, he won the U10 category, and in 2010 he snagged victories in both the U12 Austrian Championship and the U12 World School Chess Championship. His success continued in 2012 when he won the U14 Austrian Championship, and then in 2015 when he won the U16 category. That same year, he also earned the title of International Master.
In 2016, Blohberger was triumphant at the U18 Austrian Championship. From 2016 to 2020, he participated in the Wiener Landesliga (Vienna Regional League) for the team of SC Donaustadt. He also competed in the 4NCL Online League for Streatham & Brixton, a British chess club, in the 2020-2021 season.
Blohberger secured his three Grandmaster norms necessary for the Grandmaster title in July 2019 at the Paracin Open in Serbia, May 2020 at the 1st Gideon Japhet Memorial Open in Jerusalem, and in August 2021 at the "I Love Man" Masters in Douglas, on the Isle of Man. His Grandmaster title was officially authorized by FIDE in November 2021.
