Sebastian Bogner is a German-Swiss chess Grandmaster who was born on July 17, 1991 in Rheinfelden, Germany. He represents Switzerland in chess competitions since 2015 and achieved the title of Grandmaster in 2011.
Bogner used to represent Germany and won the bronze medal representing the country at the European U14 Championship in 2005. His decision to represent Switzerland stemmed from an invitation by the country to play in the 2014 Chess Olympiad, after which he decided to switch federations. He has also represented Switzerland in the Chess Olympiad from 2016 onwards.
Bogner had strong performances as part of the Swiss national team. He scored exceptionally well at the European Team Chess Championships in 2017, and the 43rd Chess Olympiad in 2018. His affiliation with chess clubs extends to the Bundesliga, where he played for the team SC Eppingen from 2009 to 2011, and the Swiss club Lugano CS.
Apart from his accomplishments in chess, Bogner also has a degree in Business Administration from Fernuniversität in Hagen, which he completed while pursuing his professional chess career.
