Benjamin Bok is a Dutch chess grandmaster who first gained the title at the age of 20 in 2014. He was born on January 25, 1995, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Bok learned chess at the age of four and later he joined a youth chess club in Eindhoven.
Throughout his career, Bok has secured numerous victories and high placements in various tournaments. This includes winning the 17th Unive Open in Hoogeveen, Netherlands in 2014 and coming joint first in the 17th OIBM Tournament in 2013. He also came in first in the Dutch Rapid Championship in 2016, and the Dutch Blitz Championship in 2018.
Bok has represented the Netherlands in several Chess Olympiads, continental team championships and other team events where he accomplished significant team and individual results.
In 2015, he entered Webster University in St. Louis, USA, to play for the university's team with coach GM Susan Polgar.
Bok has also worked as a second for Dutch GM Anish Giri during the 2016 Candidates Tournament, he supplemented his regular analysis work by checking Giri's analysis and preparing him for upcoming games.
