Victor Bologan is a professional chess player that hails from Moldova. He earned the title of Grandmaster in 1991. He was educated at the Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth, and Tourism in Moscow, Russia.


Bologan has several notable accomplishments under his belt. He won the Aeroflot Open in Moscow in 2003 and in the same year he won the Category 14 tournament in Enghien, outside Paris. His other significant achievements include winning the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting 2003, the Moscow International Title in 2005, and securing the silver, then bronze medal in the 2003 European Individual Championships held in Silivri, Turkey. In 2001 and in 2005, he won the strong Kish GM tournament in Iran.



Bologan has written chess books and produced chess DVDs where he showcases his knowledge about the game. Bologan also represented his homeland, Moldova, in the Chess Olympiads from 1992 to 2018. He has contributed to his team's performance significantly, winning one silver and four bronze medals in total. He was also the men's team coach in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
