Jure Borišek is a Slovenian chess grandmaster and was born on August 8, 1987. He was awarded the title of FIDE Master in 2005, International Master in 2007, and Grandmaster in 2010. He achieved the grandmaster title at the age of 23, after receiving a third and final norm at the 39th Bosna International Tournament in Sarajevo.
Borišek won the national championship of Slovenia in 2005 and 2007, the team championship with his club Alkaloid in 2016, and the national team championship in 2007 and 2010. He also participated in several European and World Championships, and played for Slovenia in three Chess Olympiads.
He started coaching young chess players in 2011, working in several chess schools in Slovenia. He also started working as a trainer on an international level in 2016.
In 2020, Borišek became a member of the Australian Chess Federation and currently plays for the Australia chess team in international competitions. He joined the Melbourne Chess Club and works as a head coach there.
