Slim Bouaziz is a Tunisian chess Grandmaster who is notable for his achievements in the game. Born on December 27, 1950, he is one of Tunisia's most successful chess players. He has won the Tunisian Chess Championship several times.
Bouaziz reached Grandmaster (GM) status in 1993, becoming the first Tunisian to ever hold the title. His greatest achievement was winning the African Chess Championship in 1985.
He has also represented Tunisia in numerous Chess Olympiads, playing first board most of the time. Bouaziz’s most recent participation in an Olympiad was in 2012.
Outside of his accomplishments as a player, Bouaziz has contributed to the world of chess as a trainer. He holds the FIDE Senior Trainer title, granted by the World Chess Federation.
Later in his life, Bouaziz made a significant career change, becoming a professor of mathematics at Tunis University. Despite this shift in his career focus, Bouaziz's impact on the world of chess and status as a Grandmaster are undeniable.
