Lucas Brunner is a Swiss chess player who earned the title of Grandmaster (GM) from FIDE, the international chess federation, in 1997.
Brunner was born on December 17, 1967, in Thalwil, and he was introduced to chess at a young age by his father. He made significant strides in his chess career, becoming Swiss Junior Champion in 1985 and international master in 1985.
Additionally, Brunner represented Switzerland in the Chess Olympiad, a major international team chess event, seven times between 1986 and 2002. He earned a bronze medal in the 1988 Thessaloniki Olympiad.
Brunner has also authored a book, "The Philidor Files: Detailed Coverage of a Dynamic Opening," published by Everyman Chess in 2007.
