Vladimir Burmakin (born 6 March 1967) is a Russian chess grandmaster. He earned his International Master title in 1990 and Grandmaster title in 1997.


Burmakin has participated in many high-level tournaments. He represented Russia in the Chess Olympiad in 1994 where he contributed to the team's gold medal victory. He shared first place in the 2001/02 Hastings International Chess Congress with Krishnan Sasikiran and Zahar Efimenko. In 2008, he came first in the III Benidorm International Chess Festival. In 2014, he tied for first in the Rochefort Open tournament. Moreover, he participated at the European Senior Chess Championship in Drammen in Norway in 2018 and won it.


Burmakin is not only a high-performance chess player but also a well-known chess coach. Being one of the trainers of the Qatar national team from 2004 to 2006, he helped its successful performance in the 2006 Chess Olympiad in Turin.
