Javier B. Campos Moreno is a Chilean chess International Grandmaster (GM). He was born on the 9th of February, 1959, in Santiago, Chile. Having learned how to play chess at the young age of four, by 13, he won the Chilean under-18 championship seven times.
Campos Moreno gained further recognition by winning the Chilean Chess Championship in 1979, 1981, 1982, 1985 and 1998. He also represented Chile in six Chess Olympiads between 1980 and 1996. In 1982, he was awarded the title of International Master and later the title of International grandmaster in 1990 by FIDE. He also won three South American Zonal Tournaments, thus receiving three invitations to chess's World Cup.
Moreover, he became an important chess teacher after establishing his chess academy. Many of his students have won national and international championships and have achieved FIDE titles like International Master and FM.
