Renier Castellanos Rodriguez is a Spanish chess grandmaster whose route to the title was one of the longest on record: his first norm came at the Ciudad de Albacete tournament in March 2005, his second at the Livigno Open in 2012, his third at the Spanish Individual Championship in 2017, and the final one at the Chess Menorca Open in April 2024 - nineteen years after the first.
Along the way he won the Ciudad de Zaragoza tournament in 2013 alongside Spain's top grandmaster Francisco Vallejo Pons, and in June 2024 he scored 6.5/9 at the Salento Open Masters. The Grandmaster title was confirmed in 2024.
