Artur Chibukhchian was an Armenian chess player who achieved the title of Grandmaster (GM). He was born on March 21, 1980 in Yerevan, Armenia.
Chibukhchian started his career during USSR time. In 1995 and 1996, he became the Under-16 Armenian Champion. He followed this up in 2000 by winning a silver medal at the Armenian Championship. In 2001, he finally won the gold medal at the Armenian Championship.
Chibukhchian completed his International Master (IM) norms in 2001 and received the GM norms in 2004. During this time, he participated in many tournaments and produced high-quality results such as at the Cappelle-la-Grande Open in 2003 and the Istanbul Chess Olympiad in the same year. In 2005, Chibukhchian scored a significant success by winning the Dubai Open.
Chibukhchian played for the national team of Armenia in the European Team Chess Championship 2003 in Plovdiv and in the World Team Chess Championship 2005 in Beer-Sheva. He has also played in the national team in the 18th Chess Olympiad and the 19th Chess Olympiad.
Chibukhchian's highest ranking was No.97 in January 2005. His last rated games were in 2008.
