Fidel Corrales Jiménez is a Cuban-American chess grandmaster. Born on June 7, 1987, in Pinar del Río, Cuba, he has been competing in international chess competitions since 2007. He achieved the titles of FIDE Master in 2007 and International Master in 2008. In July 2008, he was awarded the Grandmaster title by the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
Corrales Jiménez has participated in numerous chess competitions worldwide including the Costa Rican International Chess Open, where he finished in first place in 2007 and 2008. He also tied for first place at the 2013 U.S. Open Championship in Wisconsin, USA. In 2021, he competed at the Spring Chess Classic in the United States, emerging as the co-champion.
He played for Cuba in five Chess Olympiads from 2008 to 2018. In February 2018, he transferred to the United States Chess Federation. He currently lives in the United States, where he continues to compete in professional chess and teach chess to young students.
