Leonardo Costa is a German chess grandmaster, born in January 2008, and the youngest German champion in tournament history - winning the national title in 2022 and again in 2026. He started playing at four and a half against his father Vincenzo, who was soon no longer a match for him, and at six was winning youth cups against children nearly twice his age.

He was German youth champion at under-10 and under-14 level, and in December 2021 the German Chess Federation singled him out for special competitive-sport funding. The Grandmaster title was awarded in 2025.
