Balaji Daggupati is an American FIDE Master and chess player. He was born on November 9, 2000 in Andhra Pradesh, India and later moved to the United States. Daggupati was the under-18 champion of India both in 2017 and 2018.
He achieved the International Master (IM) title after tying for first place in the 2018 North American Junior Championship, where he secured 7 of 9 points. He represented the US in the 43rd Chess Olympiad in 2018, and earned a silver medal. In 2019, he won the Curaçao Chess Festival.
Daggupati ranked 3rd in the 2015 World School Chess Championship in the under-15 category, and he was listed as one of the United States Chess Federation's Top 100 Age 17 players in the USA. He was awarded the title International Master in October 2018 and FIDE Master in April 2014. He currently studies at the University of Texas.
Outside of chess, Daggupati has an interest in computer science and human-computer interaction.
