He became the champion of the Dutch Open Chess Championship in 2014. Dambacher also enjoyed team success, winning the Dutch Team Championship with the club En Passant in 2013 and 2015.

Notably, Dambacher studied Psychology and Business Informatics as well, which sets him apart from many other professional chess players. He has also worked as a project leader in the field of Business Informatics.
