Branko Damljanović is a Serbian chess Grandmaster, coach, and author celebrated for his significant accomplishments in the chess world. He was born on 17 June 1961 in Titovo Užice, Serbia, FR Yugoslavia. Throughout his career, he obtained numerous accolades, including becoming the Serbian national champion multiple times.
Over the years, Branko played for Yugoslavia in major tournaments like the Chess Olympiad and the European Team Chess Championship, earning the team a gold medal in the latter competition. As a chess coach, he has helped shape exceptional talents into skilled players, most notably teaching and guiding the Serbian women’s team, which won a silver medal at the 1990 Chess Olympiad.
Besides being a player and coach, Damljanović also co-authored a chess book titled "The Gruenfeld Defence Revealed". Despite his numerous roles in the chess community, he remains primarily known as a fiercely competitive chess player.
