Das Debashis is an Indian chess Grandmaster, born on 1988 in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, India. He became a National Chess Champion in India at the early age of 22 in Chennai by equalling the previous records of Viswanathan Anand and M. S. Thejkumar. His victory at the Asian Continental Championship in 2012 played an important role in helping him become a grandmaster. He secured third place in the premier section of the Hastings International Chess Congress held in 2018.


Das has also played for India in different competitions such as Chess Olympiad, Asian Team Chess Championship and World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad. He was awarded the title, International Master (IM), by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) in 2008 and became Grandmaster (GM), in 2013.
