Deepan Chakkravarthy J. is an Indian International Chess Grandmaster (GM) who held the national record for being the youngest National Chess Champion in India at age 19 until 2012. He was born on December 3, 1987, in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Attuned to chess at an early age, he won several championships during his childhood and teenage years.



Apart from playing in the Chess Olympiads in Torino 2006 and Khanty-Mansiysk 2010 on behalf of India, Chakkravarthy has achieved several impressive feats in his professional career. In the year 2012, he won the Mayor's Cup International Open Chess Tournament in Mumbai, later adding to his list of victories in 2019 by winning the 12th KIIT International Chess Festival.
