Salvador G. Del Río De Angelis is a Spanish chess player who earned his International Master (IM) title in 1993 and was awarded the Grandmaster (GM) title by FIDE (the international chess federation) in 2000. Born on May 23, 1964 in Valencia, Spain, he is currently active in international chess and typically represents Spain in tournaments.


De Angelis shows proficiency in both individual and team competition. He has participated in European Chess Championship and World Chess Championship qualification tournaments, and consistently ranks highly in Spanish championship tournaments. In 1994, he won the Spanish Chess Championship, moving up from his second-place finish the previous year. His contributions have helped the Spanish national team clinch 8th and 5th places in the Chess Olympiads held in 1998 and 2002 respectively.


De Angelis has also excelled in team club-level competitions, representing Spain in the European Club Cup, where his team finished third in 2002. He played on the championship-winning team in 1994's Four Nations Chess League, UK’s team chess championship. De Angelis played for the team from Barbican Chess Club and has represented other clubs in national team championships.



Besides playing, De Angelis also contributes to the chess community through his work as an author. He has written analytical articles for various chess magazines and is the author of several opening monographs.
