Axel Delorme is a French chess player who achieved the grandmaster (GM) title from the World Chess Federation in 2021. Born on 29th May 1990, his interest in the game developed through his grandfather and he started playing at the age of 12.
Delorme's achievements in the world of chess are substantial. In 2006, he became the vice-champion of France in the youth category. His first major international breakthrough came in 2008, when he acquired the international master (IM) title. Then, in 2012, he achieved the title of FIDE master (FM).
Throughout his career, Delorme has played for both individual and club championships. He played in the Chess Olympiad and also in French team championships. In the latter, he represented clubs like Mulhouse Philidor and Bischwiller.
In his personal life, Delorme is also known for his achievements outside the chess world. He is a trained physiotherapist, graduated with honors from the IFMK Saint Michel School in 2015. He also served as a volunteer at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
