Goran Dizdar is a Croatian chess player who holds the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) title of International Master (IM). He was born in Osijek, Croatia in 1962 and earned his IM title in 1984.
Dizdar is particularly known for his involvement in correspondence chess, where the game is not played in real time and players have several days to make a move. He won the 16th Correspondence Chess World Championship in 2004, making him the first ever Croatian world chess champion.
Dizdar has also been involved in the organization and promotion of chess. For example, in 1990 he founded a chess club in his hometown and was its president for 8 years. Beyond his competitive career, he also works as a chess coach.
