Emir Dizdarević is a Bosnian chess Grandmaster (GM) and coach, born on 2 April 1958 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (now Bosnia and Herzegovina). Throughout his professional career, Dizdarević has represented both Yugoslavia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in a plethora of international and national championships.
Between 1977 and 2001, Dizdarević played in ten Chess Olympiads, winning a silver and two bronze team medals and a bronze medal for his individual performance. He achieved notable wins in the national championships of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Yugoslavia.
He was awarded the title of International Master (IM) in 1978 and Grandmaster (GM) in 1980. He won the 43rd Yugoslav Chess Championship held at Titograd in 1977.
Dizdarević also distinguished himself as a coach, serving as the coach of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 38th Chess Olympiad in 2008, held in Dresden, Germany. Apart from his player and coach roles, Dizdarević has worked as an Arbiter (referee).
