Fabian Döttling is a German chess grandmaster born on 25th of August, 1980 in Remseck am Neckar, Baden-Württemberg. He holds an international master title which he won in 1997 at the age of 16 and gained the grandmaster title in 2001. In July 2002, Döttling was awarded a place in the top 100 of the world rankings of chess players.
After his years of achieving many chess titles, Döttling spent some years working in the finance sector. In 2008, he restarted his chess career and became one of the world's top players.
He has won several chess tournaments including the Open German Internet Championship in 2001 and the Bavarian Team Championship in 2006. His club affiliations include the Chess Club Leipzig Gohlis, the German Chess Championships and Schachfreunde Deizisau.
In 2020, Döttling became the German Team Champion and his team (Schachfreunde Deizisau), emerged as the eventual winners in the Chess Base online tournament. He has also written works for the chess magazine Schach Magazin 64 and runs a chess school for highly talented junior players.
