Andrey Drygalov is a notable contemporary chess grandmaster from Russia. Born on 19 February 1996 in Moscow, he started playing chess at the young age of five. His remarkable skill in the game of chess was evident when he became the winner of the Russian Chess Championship U-10 category at the age of nine. He would go on to win the Russian Cup Final, a prestigious chess competition, in 2012.


Drygalov obtained the prestigious title of International Master (IM) in 2013. Over the course of his career, he participated in numerous other championships including the European Individual Championship in 2015 and the World Cup in 2017.


In 2018, Drygalov was conferred with the title of Grand Master (GM), the highest title a chess player can attain, under the World Chess Federation (FIDE). Known for his aggressive and meticulous playing style, Drygalov has established himself as a respected figure in the world of chess. Apart from competing in international tournaments, he also actively contributes to the promotion of chess through coaching and giving chess lessons. His advancements in chess have made him an influential figure within the Russian and international chess scenes.
