Jan-Krzysztof Duda is a Polish chess grandmaster. He was born on 26 April 1998 in Kraków, Poland. Duda obtained the title of grandmaster in March 2013, becoming the second youngest grandmaster in the world, after Wei Yi of China.
His chess career has been marked by several accomplishments. In 2014, he won the Polish Chess Championship. He also won the individual silver medal for his individual result on board 3 at the 41st Chess Olympiad in 2014.
In 2016, Duda competed in the Chess World Cup, where he was defeated in the third round by Maxime Vachier-Lagrave. In 2017, he competed in the World Junior Chess Championship, where he won the title of runner-up.
In July 2018, Duda won the Polish Blitz Chess Championship. In September of the same year, he also won the Polish Rapid Chess Championship. He reached the semi-finals of the Chess World Cup 2019.
In the Candidates Tournament 2022, he was his first appearance in such a competition. This tournament is meant to determine the challenger for the World Chess Championship.
