Pavel Eljanov is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster and Ukrainian Champion of 2010. He was born on May 10, 1983 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He first achieved the title of Grandmaster (GM) in 2001. After coming second in the World Youth Chess Championships in 1999 and 2000, Eljanov won the European Individual Chess Championship, a title he claimed in 2004.
Eljanov was also part of the gold medal-winning Ukrainian team at the 36th Chess Olympiad in 2004 and with the team they won gold once more in the 37th edition in 2006. Besides team achievements, he won the Corus tournament twice, in 2007 and 2008, and also participated in the Chess World Cup in 2007.
