Iván Faragó is a Hungarian chess Grandmaster. He was born on April 1, 1946 in Budapest, Hungary. Faragó has had a successful chess career, winning the Hungarian Chess Championship in 1976 and 1980.
He earned his International Master title in 1973 and became a Grandmaster in 1976. He was also part of the Hungarian team that won gold in the 1978 Chess Olympiad in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He also had several achievements in team events like winning the European Team Championships in 1977 and 1980, and playing for Budapest Spartacus in the European Chess Club Cup from 1976 to 1986.
In addition to his game play, Faragó also worked as a chess writer and analyst for Hungarian newspaper Népszabadság.
