Jorge Viterbo Ferreira is a Portuguese chess player who earned the title of "Grandmaster" in 2015, becoming the fifth Portuguese player to do so. He was born in 1994 in Porto, Portugal. In 2010, he won the Junior Chess Championship in Portugal and was then awarded the title of "International Master" in 2012. He also earned the second place in the Portuguese Chess Championship in 2014.
In the 41st Chess Olympics, he was part of the Portuguese team that placed tenth in the competition. In 2015, Ferreira won the Portuguese Chess Championship.
Ferreira is a student of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), where he is also a member of the chess team. He is also a member of the Associação de Xadrez do Porto, a local chess club.
He has gained attention as one of the youngest grandmasters in the world, and for his consistent performance and contributions to Portuguese chess. He continues to represent his country in numerous international competitions.
