Carlos Horacio García Palermo is an Argentine-Italian chess grandmaster. He was born on December 2, 1946 in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Palermo was awarded the International Master (IM) title in 1985 and the Grandmaster (GM) title in 1992.


Between 1964–1968, he won four times the Argentine Junior Championship. He has competed in many international chess tournaments throughout his career, winning the Silver Medal at the Chess Olympiad in Buenos Aires in 1978, and in individual competition, he has won international tournaments in Barcelona, Switzerland and Brazil, to name a few.


In the eighteen Chess Olympiads for Argentina, he earned an additional three team medals; two bronze and one silver. Palermo later moved to Italy, where he has since represented in international chess competitions. His last notable tournament was in the Dubai Open and the Dresden Open, both within the 2008–2009 periods. He was married to WGM Carolina Blanco from 2005 to 2009.
