Eldar Gasanov is a Ukrainian chess Grandmaster (GM) who was born on July 20, 1982. He achieved the status of Grandmaster (GM) in 2005. Gasanov was previously coached by Grandmaster Sergey Dolmatov.
In his career, he has participated in various chess competitions. His most significant victories include the 2006 Georgian Chess Championship, the 2014 Riga Technical University Open Tournament, and the 2018 Reykjavik International Tournament. In the 2006 Georgian Championship, he shared first place. In the 2014 Riga Technical University Open Tournament, he became the outright winner and beat world-renowned Grandmasters including Igor Kurnosov and Igor Naumkin. He also participated in the European Individual Chess Championship in 2008 and 2015.
He played for the Ukrainian team in the 2008 World Mind Sports Games in Beijing, China. In 2010, he successfully competed at the European Club Cup for PGMB Rostov.
