Tigran Levoni Gharamian is an Armenian-French chess Grandmaster, born in 1984 in Yerevan, Armenia. He moved to France in 2001 and officially changed his federation to the French Chess Federation in 2004. He was awarded the title of International Master in 2001 and that of Grandmaster in 2004.


In 2006, Gharamian won the Paris City Chess Championship and in 2008, he was victorious in the 8th Nancy Chess Festival. He shared first place in masters section of the 2009 Ruy Lopez Chess Festival. Additionally, Gharamian won the 2011 French Chess Championship and achieved success in multiple other tournaments.


Gharamian has also represented France in several team chess events, including three Chess Olympiads and five European Team Chess Championships. In these team events, he has claimed several gold and bronze medals.



Though French is the language Gharamian speaks most frequently, he also converses in English, Russian and Armenian.
