Tamaz Giorgadze is a Georgian chess grandmaster who was born on February 8, 1947. He was awarded the International Master title in 1976 and the Grandmaster title in 1977. Giorgadze competed in multiple Soviet Chess Championships throughout the 1970s. Some of his most notable accomplishments include tying for first place in the USSR Chess Championship in 1977 and winning the West Berlin International in 1981. Additionally, Giorgadze represented Georgia in team tournaments, including the Georgian SSR team that tied for first place in the 1978 Soviet Team Chess Championship. He has also had strong performances at the Chess Olympiad.
