Michele Godena is an Italian chess player who earned the title of Grandmaster, the highest rank a chess player can achieve, in 1996. Born on February 30, 1967, in Pordenone, Italy, he is one of Italy's top chess players.
Godena has won the Italian Championship multiple times, in 1993, 1999, 2001, and 2007. He has represented Italy in multiple Chess Olympiads and European Team Chess Championships. Notable performances include scoring 7/10 points in the 2006 Chess Olympiad, held in Turin, Italy, and winning individual bronze at the 2007 European Team Chess Championship in Crete.
On top of being a professional chess player, Michele Godena works as a civil servant in his hometown and mainly trains chess in his free time.
