José González García is a Spanish chess player who was awarded the prestigious title of Grandmaster (GM) on 11 March 2006. Born on 30 November 1973, García is known for his numerous chess games and matches, along with his contributions to the sport through various chess clubs.
García has won numerous accolades throughout his chess career. Some of the prestigious tournaments in which he has played include the Championship of the Canary Islands (1992), the international tournament “Chess on the Beach” (2003), and the Chess Open of Barcelona (2004). He also secured wins in the Chess Zone 1.10 in the year 2005.
García has played for different chess clubs across Spain, including the Eborajedrez Club from Toledo, Cerdanyola Vallés Chess Club in Barcelona, and the Shatar Club from Badalona.
The Catalonian Championships have been played in honour of José González García’s 1333 match against “Carlos Benítez. This recognised García’s most famous and talked-about match.
