Dmitry Gordievsky is a Russian chess Grandmaster who was born in Moscow on 30 December 1996. Fascinated by the game from his early childhood, Gordievsky had received training at the famous Russian State Social University, which has produced many acclaimed chess players.


In January 2014, when Dmitry was just around 17 years old, he clinched his first International Grandmaster norm against experienced players at a Moscow Open tournament. He earned his second GM norm in the Chigorin Memorial Tournament the same year, and thereby secured the International Master title by FIDE.


Gordievsky achieved his third and final GM norm in 2017 during the Czech Open tournament where he stood second. Proceeding this victory, computed under the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) rules, he was awarded the prestigious Grandmaster title in October 2017.


He stood first in the Moscow Open 2018 by displaying impressive performances against numerous experienced players. Other significant wins include the U20 Russian Championship in 2016 and the Russian Team Championships in 2017 where his team, Molodezhka, secured the victory. He was also a squad member of Mednyi Vsadnik, who placed second in the European Club Cup 2018.



His younger brother, Aleksandr Gordievsky, is also a noted chess player with the title of FIDE Master. Dmitry also has a Twitch channel named 'Gordievsky Dmitry', where he frequently hosts live sessions to discuss chess strategies and techniques.
