Aleksandra Goryachkina is a Russian chess player who has been a Woman Grandmaster (WGM) since 2012 and an International Grandmaster (GM) since 2018. She was born on September 28, 1998, in Orsk, Russia and is coached by her father, Yuri Goryachkin. She has had an illustrious career, winning the World Junior Girls' Championship twice and the U18 Girls Division of the World Youth Chess Championships once.


Goryachkina won the Russian Women's Championship Superfinal in 2015 and 2017. From 2014 to 2016, she won the Women's Russian Premier League three times in a row. In 2017, she won the Women's European Individual Chess Championship.


In 2019, Goryachkina won the Women's Candidates Tournament, which qualified her to face Ju Wenjun in the Women's World Chess Championship 2020. However, she eventually lost the match and finished as the runner-up.



Among her other accomplishments include a silver medal at the European Team Championship in 2015 in the Women's division, and a bronze medal at both the European Team Championship (in 2017) and the 43rd Chess Olympiad (in 2018) for the Russian Women's Team.


On January 31, 2019, Goryachkina was awarded the title of Merited Master of Sports of Russia by the Order of the Ministry of Sport of Russia.
