Alexander Graf is a German chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster, the highest title a chess player can attain. He was born in Russia as Aleksander Nenashev, on May 25, 1962. Graf's highest ranking was in October 2004 when he was ranked number 41 in the world.


He has accomplished multiple achievements in his chess career. In 1986, he won the Uzbekistan Chess Championship, and in 1988, the Russian Chess Championship. In 1996, alongside his wife, Graf moved to Germany where his name was westernized to Alexander Graf.


Despite the westernization, he continued his career as a chess player and won several tournaments. In 2004, he won the Calvia Open in Mallorca with a score of 7.5 points out of 9. He also triumphed in the Munich ZMD Open tournament, and in 2006, in the Ciudad de Dos Hermanas tournament.


Graf had represented Germany in various Chess Olympiads. He had competed in Chess Olympiads seven times, in the World Team Chess Championship and in the European Team Chess Championship.
