Aleksey Ivanovich Grebnev is a Russian chess player who held the title of Grandmaster (GM) from Ukraine (1993). He was born on August 28, 1962, in Russia. Grebnev is known for his performances in several prestigious chess tournaments.
He won the Dnepropetrovsk Chess Championship twice in 1980 and 1982. In 1992 the inaugural Vasylyshyn Memorial Tournament was held in Lviv, and Aleksey Grebnev was one of the participants. In 1993, he was awarded the title of International Master (IM), and later in the same year, he was awarded the GM title.
Grebnev also participated in the Ukrainian Chess Championship’s final in 1993, where he came eighth. In 1996, he moved to Germany and continued to participate in various chess tournaments, including the German Chess Bundesliga for the chess club "SF Katernberg" from Essen.
