Alexander Grischuk is a Russian professional chess grandmaster and a three-time world blitz champion. He was born on 31st October, 1983 in Moscow, Russia. He was awarded the title of International Master at the age of 16 and was conferred the title of Grandmaster in 2000, when he was just 17.


Throughout his career, Grischuk has been a significant player in numerous international tournaments. He has won the 2009 Russian Chess Championship, along with finishing joint first in the 2012 World Blitz Chess Championship and winning the FIDE Grand Prix Khanty-Mansiysk in 2012. He was also the World Blitz Chess Champion in 2006, 2012 and 2015.


Grischuk's success extends to team events as well. He has contributed to Russia's gold medal performances at the 2009 World Team Chess Championship and the European Team Chess Championships in 2003 and 2007.



Grischuk is known for his deep thinking during games, often eating up a significant portion of his allocated time on the clock during the opening phase of play. He is also known for his strong preference for blitz and rapid chess over classical formats.
